In School Screening Program

Fremantle Speech Pathology Services is offering on-site speech, language, and literacy screening assessments at several Primary Schools for children who are in Kindergarten, Pre-primary, or Year 1 in 2025.

Why is screening important?

Strong language skills help children understand lessons, follow directions, and express their ideas verbally or in writing. Strong speech and language skills also lay the groundwork for efficient reading and writing. Children who can speak and listen well are better positioned to develop strong skills for reading and spelling in addition to creating more complex written work which is crucial for academic success.

What we learn

These screening assessments are designed to provide a rapid and reliable profile of a child’s performance across speech, language and literacy areas. They are a valuable tool for making decisions such as:

  • Are my child's speech errors age appropriate?

  • Is my child meeting language milestones?

  • Is my child's literacy development "within normal limits"?

  • Is my child at risk of developing learning difficulties?

  • Should further assessment be conducted?

What is the cost?

The cost depends on the year level of your child and includes the assessment session, scoring, and report. We are here to answer your questions following the scene, however, if you would like to discuss your child's results at length, it's best to book a consultation so our therapists can put aside the time.
